Today is the first Monday in April, and what a lovely day it is this year.

As you will probably/hopefully be aware, track league is on hold until we are able to return to the track.

The current situation is as follows:-

Starting next Monday, works will commence on replacing the athletics running track, hopefully the weather will be kind for this.

Following on, the lines of the cycling track will be repainted and possibly some repairs to the surface carried out, that is me being optimistic (the rumoured re-surfacing is not going to happen). This is scheduled to be completed at the end of June, fingers crossed.

As regular users of Palmer Park will be aware, in 2024 there were issues with failing flood lighting, occasionally plunging the track into darkness. We were assured that would be looked at and rectified at the end of 2024/the beginning of 2025. I can report that the lights failed again within the last couple of weeks!

So here’s to fine weather and a speedy completion of the works so that track league can restart asap. Watch this space.
